Ered Wethrin: All song ceased

03/02/14  ||  sincan

What the fuck is an Ered Wethrin might one ask, and I will tell you in a while, just to make you read this entire review. Such a perfect clit-hanger, don’t you fancy?

Where was I? So Ered Wethrin is a new Swedish black metal band consisting of Anor and Ithil, the latter soldier is the one who is responsible for the famous one man band Lustre. If you like/love/ejaculate to Lustre, this will be up your alley as well, because Ered Wethrin is not that different in comparison.

This EP consists of two tracks filled with transcendental atmospheric black metal which just makes your head all blurry and whatnot. It is inspired by the works of Tolkien, which can be seen in the lyrics, if you know your fantasy (it’s not like you can hear the lyrics when listening to this EP so if you have a problem with that old author, you can just act like you didn’t know this). I never really understood the superiority of Tolkien’s work over other fantasy stories, but on the other hand I haven’t paid much attention to be honest.

The first track, Part I starts with a riff that can be described as a critical head shot. If this doesn’t get stuck in your brain, I don’t know what ever will be stuck there. The riff follows the track till its end and is accompanied with bittersweet synth melodies and almost moaning vocals, just to get back to fully focus the riff again. The other (and final) song on this EP is half as long as the first, if you really did wonder, and it is constructed in a very similar way. But it has more varied guitar lines and even if “Part I” seems like the obvious hit here, Part II, has a lot to offer.

I would suggest you to check this out as soon as possible. Do you still wonder what Ered Wethrin is for something? Try this!
